For Chantelle Greenough, caring for animals is a lifelong calling.

Raised on a dairy farm in rural Nova Scotia, Chantelle grew up surrounded by animals of every kind. As a quiet, shy child, she found her greatest connection with the animals around her. Long before she understood the science of animal behaviour, she understood that trust, patience, and body language formed a language all their own. Those early experiences laid the foundation for a lifetime dedicated to understanding animals on their terms and working with their natural instincts rather than against them.

Chantelle began training animals at just seven years old and was already being paid for her skills by the age of ten. Over the years she has continued to refine her knowledge through hands-on experience, veterinary mentorship, and formal education, earning a diploma in Animal Sciences. Her expertise is grounded not only in education, but in decades of practical experience working with dogs, horses, livestock, and companion animals.

Before opening Patch of Heaven, Chantelle spent six years working alongside her now ex-husband as a professional bovine hoof trimmer. After suffering a serious workplace injury that doctors believed would permanently limit her mobility, she was encouraged to pursue a less physically demanding career. Instead of giving up, she poured her energy into creating the place she had always imagined, a pet resort designed entirely around the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of animals.

Patch of Heaven was built largely by Chantelle herself, with the support of family, friends, and skilled tradespeople. Every detail reflects her philosophy that pets deserve an enriching, safe environment where they can run, play, rest, learn, and simply be themselves.

For Chantelle, caring for pets is deeply personal. Every animal who stays at Patch of Heaven is treated as though they were one of her own beloved companions. Her goal is not only to provide exceptional care while families are away, but also to help owners better understand their pets, strengthen their relationships, and build a lifetime of trust and mutual respect.
